Boiler Up!

Purdue ended the day with an overtime victory against Texas A&M.  Although technically favored in seeding, the Boilermakers were the first round upset special by many bracket makers.  Instead of bowing out early though, they have survived both tests and find themselves in the Sweet 16, matched up against a vulnerable Duke team.  It was also great to see a defensive minded veteran like Kramer come up huge on the offensive end, scoring 17…none bigger than the game winning bucket.

While the Boilers were busy taking down A&M, Pitt did what it does so well…get eliminated from the NCAA tournament.  In their defense, Xavier was pretty good defensively today, but it still amazes me that they bow out early EVERY YEAR.  The other late game was Duke coasting easily to the Sweet 16.  Coach K is very good at getting the Blue Devils by the weak competition in the early rounds of the Dance…especially when they are rocking 1 seeds.

It was a pretty crazy first two rounds of the tournament.  All those that love to see tight basketball games and upsets definitely got their wish this year.
